The situation
The client supplies the national water utilities. Monitoring water quality across scattered field sites meant getting sensor data off remote hardware reliably, then turning it into something the business could report on. The sites are distributed and not always easy to reach, so the connectivity had to be dependable before anything downstream mattered.
One platform on Azure
Device connectivity runs on Azure IoT Central, which brings the sensor readings back from the field and keeps the fleet managed. Azure Functions and Stream Analytics process the flow, a Data Lake holds it, and Power BI is what the business reads. The design stayed deliberately plain: the value was in getting reliable data off remote hardware, not in the number of moving parts.
