The problem it solves
Equipment hire companies own kit that moves, and the two questions that never stop mattering are where it is and whether it is earning. Big plant gets a GPS tracker. The smaller things that walk off site get a cheap BLE tag, and the tracker on a nearby asset acts as the gateway that hears them, so you do not have to power and connect every tag.
The stack
Ingestion runs on Azure Container Apps, position and hire data sits in Azure SQL, and the whole thing is multi-tenant with row-level security so a customer only ever sees their own estate. Entra ID handles sign-in. Azure Maps draws the live view of the yard and the sites. The booking lifecycle keeps an audit trail on every state change, because in hire the argument is always about who had what and when.
Why it is here
This one is on the page for a reason beyond the work. It runs on the same Azure platform we put behind client projects, which is how we know the patterns hold: we live on them ourselves, in production, for paying customers in the UK and the UAE.
